Dodgers are keeping 2 players off the table in trade talks

The Los Angeles Dodgers are apparently looking to go Tarik Skubal hunting … without having to surrender two key names.

The Dodgers consider two players to be nonstarters in trade negotiations, according to a report on Friday by Katie Woo and Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Those two players are their blue-chip prospects Josue De Paula and Eduardo Quintero.

However, the Dodgers would reportedly be willing to listen on two of their other top prospects (Zyhir Hope and Mike Sirota) as well as potentially on big-league starter Emmet Sheehan. You can read The Athletic’s full report on the situation here.

De Paula, a 21-year-old lefty-hitting outfielder, is considered the No. 1 prospect in the Dodgers organization. He is ranked No. 4 on MLB’s list of top 100 prospects and is batting .308 with a .925 OPS in Double-A this season.

Quintero, a 20-year-old righty-hitting outfielder, is also a coveted talent. He ranks No. 3 in the Dodgers organization and No. 19 on MLB’s list of top 100 prospects. Quintero is currently in High-A ball where he is hitting .307 with a .915 OPS this year.

This news comes with the Dodgers pursuing the Detroit Tigers ace Skubal and other targets ahead of the Aug. 3 MLB trade deadline. While De Paula and Quintero are apparently off the table, the back-to-back defending World Series champions would be willing to move some other prospects (as well as possibly one multi-time All-Star).
