Justin Jefferson has one word for the Vikings' quarterback competition

Training camp is already underway, but the Minnesota Vikings still don't have a starting quarterback.

Kyler Murray is still the favorite to be behind center in Week 1, but he's getting a hold of Kevin O'Connell's offense, and J.J. McCarthy is still in the race.

Inevitably, that competition will only raise the floor, and while the bar wasn't particularly high, Justin Jefferson will still appreciate the improved play at the position.

When asked his thoughts about this situation after OTAs and minicamp, the superstar wideout gushed about how far along they are now.

Justin Jefferson sees improvement in the Vikings' QB room

“Improvements,” Jefferson told the media. “I see a lot of great plays being out there. I just see a lot of learning out there. We’re really all just trying to get on the same page and get connected like we know we should be. Once it all gets dialed in, the connection, the relationship, and all of that stuff just comes together.”

Barring a shocking turn of events, Murray will be their guy. Otherwise, it's hard to believe they would've even considered signing him, let alone giving him so many first-team reps.

Even so, that might not be the end of the McCarthy era in the Twin Cities. While he might request a trade, whoever wins the QB1 job will most likely be kept on a short leash.

The Vikings' quarterback situation will likely be a talking point even during the season.

That said, this is probably Murray's last chance to prove that he's worth another big contract and a starting job, and failing to make the most of his brief tenure with a quarterback guru like Kevin O'Connell will only be another big stain on his résumé.

Iron sharpens iron, and with McCarthy also fighting for his job, there's nowhere to go but up for the Vikings' signal-callers.
