The two former Shield members are set to face off once again this weekend, clashing at SummerSlam.
WWE’s two-night Premium Live Event will be officially closed out on Night 2 by Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns going toe-to-toe for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Some fans already think that Roman is going to win because his upcoming schedule has been announced, and he has been booked for a number of TV appearances as well as Money In The Bank in October.
But he must first get past Rollins, whom Reigns has been calling the ‘number two’ of WWE in the build-up to their match at SummerSlam.
Now, in a recent interview with ESPN, Seth was asked about Roman continuing to say he is the number two.
When explaining why he thinks his former tag-team partner does that, Rollins suggested that Reigns has to tell himself that so he can believe he is the number one.
Seth said: “I mean he has to tell himself that. We all tell ourselves things when we look in the mirror. We have to tell ourselves what we need to get by in the day, and I think that’s what Roman has to tell himself is that Seth Rollins is number two to make himself feel like he’s number one.
“’Acknowledge me’. He’s always looking for that acknowledgement. I think part of him needs to think that that’s the way it is. He needs to believe that.
“Whether he actually thinks that or not, I don’t know because the truth is I’ve had Roman’s number every step of the way. From the moment we came into The Shield, where I held his hand, nursed him along, helped him out and got him to the next level, to every single match we’ve had in a big-time moment, I’ve owned him.”
Seth may have a point, as the last time they faced off in a big match, he came out on top.
He won the triple threat against Roman and CM Punk at WrestleMania 41 in 2025. Prior to that, their last singles matches saw Rollins win by DQ at the 2022 Royal Rumble.
