Klay Thompson had something to say about former Golden State Warriors teammate Kevin Durant’s insinuation that the current Philadelphia 76ers are better than the Warriors teams he helped lead to two NBA championships.
On Monday, the former NBA Most Valuable Player turned more heads on the same subject, as he reiterated the same sentiment to a fan on Instagram.
“Ain’t close lmao,” Durant replied. “Joel, mvp recently. Jaylen brown, recent finals mvp, Tyrese Maxey, all star the last 3 years. We all know what bron does. Klay Thompson, never a mvp candidate in nothing, 22ppg. Draymond, 14ppg 7 rebounds 6 assist, Steph a mvp just like Joel was. I don’t get how the warriors team is better on paper.”
Thompson, who was part of the Warriors dynasty that won four NBA titles (two with Durant) seemed to push back from Durant’s claim.
“Aye man, u good? What u using my full government [name] for?”

Discussing the merits of those Warriors teams and the current version of the 76ers can make for a great debate. However, Durant and the Warriors got the job done multiple times, something LeBron James and the Sixers can’t say, at least not yet.
Perhaps Durant was just trying to see fans have at it online amid the silence of the NBA offseason.
In any case, he surely got the attention of Thompson, who is not ruling out the possibility of running it back with the Warriors before calling it a career.
