Jerry Jeudy expands on video related to potential Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson preference

In late July, a video surfaced that seemed to show Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy suggesting he preferred for veteran Deshaun Watson to emerge as the team's Week 1 starting quarterback over second-year pro Shedeur Sanders.

Jeudy later took to social media and insisted that somebody had "cut the clip perfectly for that narrative." While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Jeudy expanded on what he did and didn't say in the previously mentioned video.

Per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Jeudy shared that he held up four fingers during a livestream to answer a question about the age of his daughter. Jeudy also said the editing of the video "made it into something" that wasn't real.

"I’ve been in the league for seven years," Jeudy explained. "At least five or six of those years, there’s always been a quarterback competition within those years. I think I was mature enough, wise enough to not answer questions like that. For anyone to believe I would answer like that on social media is kinda wild." 

As of Wednesday morning, Sanders was reportedly leading the competition "at this still-early stage" of a battle that is expected to run through multiple preseason games. On Wednesday, first-year Browns head coach Todd Monken hinted he and his staff are still "far from" naming a starting quarterback for Cleveland's preseason opener at the Chicago Bears on Aug. 15. 

It's presumed the signal-caller who doesn't start against Chicago will start when the Browns host the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 22. 

Jerry Jeudy will keep any quarterback preferences to himself

On Wednesday, Jeudy said he spoke with Watson and Sanders to let them know he wasn't discussing the quarterback competition in the video that went viral.

"You gotta understand this is what we in and understand how everybody viewing the quarterback competition in this room, so every little thing’s going to try to turn it into that," Jeudy added during his comments. "...I don’t even answer quarterback questions in here. Why would I answer quarterback questions on TikTok?"

In short, it sounds like fans should expect Jeudy to keep his feelings about the team's quarterback situation to himself at least until Monken names a Week 1 starter.
