Carson Beck wows in Cardinals-Panthers preseason game

If Thursday night was a sign of things to come for Carson Beck, then the Arizona Cardinals are in for a treat. In his first official on-field action with the NFL this preseason, Beck appeared in the Hall of Fame Game against the Carolina Panthers, and he certainly proved that he's worthy of stepping into the league.

Of course, this is just a Hall of Fame Game, and things change when the regular season rolls around. Plus, Jacoby Brissett is the projected Week 1 starting quarterback for the team. Nobody is handing out trophies in August in the NFL, but it doesn't hurt to have a good showing with football-hungry viewers from around the country watching.

The rookie didn't seem nervous on the field, instead embracing his chance to impress. Throughout the first half of the game, he had full control over the Cardinals' offense and showed off some impressive highlights.

One of Beck's best plays came early in the game. On the second possession of the game, Beck spearheaded the Cardinals on a 13-play, 96-yard drive that ended in a rushing touchdown, according to stats from ESPN. Not a bad introduction. He also completed all six of his pass attempts on the drive for 72 yards, including a perfectly placed 35-yard pass and 15-yard completion to Jalen Brooks.
