Shedeur Sanders always draws a lot of attention when he hits the field, and that's even more so the case this offseason. The Cleveland Browns, of course, have a quarterback competition going on between Sanders, a second-year player, and veteran Deshaun Watson for the starting position.
On Saturday, both players took the field to make their case. Now, it's early in the preseason. What happened on Saturday won't determine the starting quarterback for the full season, but it offered a look at where these two quarterbacks currently stand.
There were positives and negatives for each player. Both showed flashes of talent. One NFL analyst, however, wasn't happy with Sanders' look.
Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report has dubbed Sanders one of the biggest "losers" of the early preseason games.
In the piece, Davenport touches on how Sanders recently apologized for an answer he had to a reporter and says, "Saturday's blowout loss to the Bears in Chicago, Sanders may owe folks another apology—for how he played."
During his appearance in the game, Sanders completed only 6 of 11 throws for 79 yards and had a pick that Davenport calls "a terrible throw." He also says that after Saturday's game, this quarterback battle "may be closer to settled now."
Sanders gets his next chance to hit the field and prove the haters wrong on Saturday, Aug. 22, against the Buffalo Bills.
