Just when the New York Yankees were set to receive pitching reinforcements with the return of Carlos Rodon on Tuesday, another pitcher is set to hit the injured list.
In an announcement from the team on Monday, it was revealed that left-hander Max Fried is headed to the 15-day injured list with a left elbow bone bruise.
It'll be Fried's second injured list stint this season with a bone bruise in his left elbow.
The first time caused Fried to miss over two months of action from May 14 to July 21.
Today, the Yankees placed LHP Max Fried on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to 8/14) with a left elbow bone bruise.

With the impending return of Rodon on Tuesday, New York was going to have six starting pitchers available.
That would've forced manager Aaron Boone to make decisions on a five- or six-man rotation, something he will no longer have to make.
Fried is just the latest Yankees pitcher to hit the injured list this season, joining Rodon, Gerrit Cole, Clarke Schmidt, Luis Gil and others.
New York has also suffered from injuries to its position players, which currently include Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton.
Despite all of that, the Yankees still boast the second-best record in the American League and will be well positioned for a deep postseason run if they can get fully healthy ahead of October.
