Numbers allegedly don't lie, and if they're to be believed, Christopher Bell is far and away the favorite to win Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Bell has made the Magic Mile his playground throughout his NASCAR career, winning at NHMS in 2022 and 2024 and finishing runner-up in 2021. He finished sixth at the track last year.
And oh-by-the-way, Bell has never lost a NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at New Hampshire, where he has four wins in as many starts, and won the 2017 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the track the year after finishing runner-up.
While the Team Penske Fords of Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney are expected to be fast, along with Bell's Joe Gibbs Racing teammate in Denny Hamlin, Sunday seems to be a great opportunity for Bell and the No. 20 team to snap a 31-race winless drought and get into victory lane for the first time this season.
"On paper it all lines right up," said Bell's crew chief, Adam Stevens, speaking Tuesday on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. "The thing standing in our ways is those Penske cars, it seems like."
Blaney won at New Hampshire last year, while the Penske-affiliated Wood Brothers entry finished runner-up with Josh Berry behind the wheel.
"They really got their short track stuff dialed in right now," Stevens said of Penske, which won at North Wilkesboro and Richmond with Logano. "There's no reason we can't go up there as a company and certainly as [the] No. 20 team with Christopher and be one of the cars to beat."
