The NFL preseason is in full swing, and that means it's time to watch every NFL team's second- and third-stringers on the field. Once in a while, you get a glimpse of a starter, though. On Friday, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love took the field for a small amount of time, but he made that drive count.
Love appeared during the team's preseason game against the Denver Broncos. He completed five of seven passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. Not shabby at all for a short showing.
What was really special was that Love led the team on a 12-play, 63-yard opening drive that ended with an 11-yard pass to MarShawn Lloyd that ended with a touchdown. Impressive stuff.
After seeing Love pull off those numbers, Matt LaFleur pulled him for the rest of the game. It makes sense. Why risk getting your gem injured in the preseason? But he gave Love that chance to shine before the games mean anything, and Love took the opportunity and ran with it, literally.
After seeing that showing, it's safe to say that Love probably won't play next week in the preseason finale. Aside from Love, backup quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor and Kyle McCord also got time against the Broncos. These games are more valuable for them because it gives them real experience on the field in an NFL setting.
