The Los Angeles Dodgers were hit with an unfortunate injury blow to center fielder Andy Pages, and the team is expected to call up outfielder Alek Thomas.
He was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this season, and he is expected to replace Pages in center field and finally get to make his MLB debut with the Dodgers.
While he doesn't possess the elite arm strength and offense of Pages, he's still a plus-defender in center field. As well, he provides speed, which would make him a solid pinch runner for the Dodgers.
With the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate team (Oklahoma City Comets), he's slashed .296/.362/.493 and is expected to still be productive at the plate while Pages nurses his hand injury.

Dodgers acquired the former Arizona OF earlier this year. Has had an .855 OPS with OKC and, most importantly, can play CF.
While losing Pages is a significant loss, as he is expected to miss four to five weeks, Thomas is the most suitable option as he is capable of handling center field.
Thomas has spent time in Triple-A making adjustments that should help open up his offense. He has been working alongside Dodgers hitting coaches with the goal of improving the poor .181 batting average he held with the Diamondbacks across 28 games.
If the Dodgers are able to uncover his prior dominance as a former top prospect, the reclamation project with Thomas could pan out as he could provide depth at the bottom of the lineup. The Dodgers have a history of helping struggling players turn around their performances as they have successfully done so with Max Muncy and Blake Treinen.
