Bills' Kyle Allen may have earned QB2 job with solid preseason performance

One can never have too many Allens in their lineup, or at least that's the case with the Buffalo Bills. The team has franchise quarterback Josh Allen, and then, they also have backup quarterback Kyle Allen.

If Josh goes down, it'll be crucial that Kyle can take over. He's expected to serve as the backup to Josh. Nothing is worse than a quarterback going down, but the only thing that tops it, in a bad way, is if the team loses every game without that quarterback and it squashes its playoff chances.

On Saturday, the Bills took on the Cleveland Browns, and Kyle gave a spectacular performance. Now, Josh should rest easy that he has a true backup.

Kyle Allen delivers strong performance for Bills

Kyle delivered an impressive first-half performance for the Bills in their preseason matchup. He made a perfectly placed deep pass to Ja'Mori Maclin for a 37-yard gain, helping keep the team's offense moving and going strong. He also finished his time on the field with 128 passing yards, one touchdown and no interceptions and posted a 138.9 passer rating. Those are impressive stats, especially when the nerves can get high during the preseason audition.

Allen also came through before halftime. He connected with Mecole Hardman for a nine-yard touchdown that gave Buffalo a 14-7 lead.

The strong outing could be important for Allen as he battles Shane Buechele for the primary backup quarterback job that's the case.
