Denny Hamlin clinches No. 1 Chase seed, NASCAR Chase field almost set after Loudon

Thirteen NASCAR Cup Series drivers have locked up spots in the Chase ahead of the Aug. 29 regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway. 

While Denny Hamlin locked up the No. 1 seed, Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, Chris Buescher, Carson Hocevar, William Byron and Daniel Suarez clinched Chase spots, alongside the likes of Ryan Blaney, Ty Gibbs, Tyler Reddick, Christopher Bell, Chase Elliott and Chase Briscoe who had already sewn up postseason berths. 

What Chase bubble looks like

Bubba Wallace couldn't clinch a Chase berth, but goes into Daytona safe barring a series of wild events. He has a 75-point gap to the cut line. 

Austin Cindric is 44 points above the cut line, while Shane van Gisbergen lost 19 points to the cut line on Sunday with a 20th-place finish. Van Gisbergen is 16th in the standings and firmly on the Chase bubble going into Daytona. 

Ryan Preece, who finished ninth on Sunday at New Hampshire, is 31 points behind van Gisbergen going into Daytona and is 17th in the standings as the first man on the outside looking in. Brad Keselowski in 18th is the only other driver in Chase contention, as he sits 66 points behind van Gisbergen and will need a win next week to stay alive in the Chase hunt.
