Enes Kanter Freedom ejected from WNBA game after heated confrontation with Natasha Cloud

Enes Kanter Freedom got himself ejected from Sunday’s WNBA clash between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever after an on-court exchange with Sky guard Natasha Cloud.

Kanter had a courtside seat for Sunday’s game, situated along one of the baselines at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Ill. The former NBA big man was wearing a shirt that read: “WOMAN noun. adult human female.”

Cloud scored a basket with just over a minute left in the third quarter, prompting the Fever to call a timeout with the team’s lead down to six. A fired-up Cloud had words for Kanter going into the stoppage. Players and referees had to get between Cloud and Kanter, who stared Cloud down with his arms outstretched.

Kanter’s attendance at Sunday’s game came amid the ongoing dialogue across the WNBA surrounding transgender athletes and their participation in women’s sports. Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, who sparked the debate last month when she spoke out against trans athletes, played 11 minutes off the bench for Indiana.

Kanter sparked controversy earlier this month when he declared for the WNBA draft, claiming that he identifies as a woman.

The Fever won Sunday’s game 113-90, led by Caitlin Clark’s 37 points and 10 rebounds. Cloud paced the Sky with 16 points on 7/9 shooting.
