Angel Reese sets two records with latest big performance

Angel Reese put together another blockbuster performance on Monday night, dominating the glass in the Atlanta Dream's 78-71 win over the Los Angeles Sparks.

Reese had a jaw-dropping 26 rebounds during the game. That broke Chamique Holdsclaw's WNBA single-game record of 24 that had stood since 2003.

She wasn't finished there. The performance also pushed Reese's season total to 458 rebounds, giving her the league's single-season record and surpassing A'ja Wilson's previous mark of 451 set in 2024.

Angel Reese keeps making WNBA history

Reese clocked 11 points, three assists and three steals in 38 minutes, helping Atlanta remain atop the Eastern Conference at 25-13 with the playoffs approaching. The Dream had already clinched a postseason spot before stepping onto the court on Monday night.

The rebounding excitement came just two days after Reese scored a career-high 31 points against the Mercury, giving her another strong performance to add to what's becoming a memorable stretch.

Even with all the good stuff, Reese wasn't exactly thrilled with her shooting.

"Last time I was here, I didn't miss any shots. Tonight, I couldn't hit..., so I knew I was going be able to get them on the rebounding side," she said after the game, according to CBS Sports. "I just want to be consistent for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win."

Reese needed only 37 games to break the WNBA's single-season rebounding record, and she still has six games left to add to that total.

For a player who has made rebounding such a defining part of her game, Monday night was another reminder of just how much Reese has grown and how important she could be once the playoffs arrive.
