Pete Crow-Armstrong continuing historic season for Chicago Cubs 

Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong is putting the finishing touches on one of the most impressive seasons in franchise history.

Crow-Armstrong may have put an exclamation point on an MVP season on Saturday. He had his first three-homer game in the Cubs' 17-5 victory over the Reds, giving him the fifth-most games in franchise history since 1900 with at least 10 total bases. His leadoff home run on Saturday was his eighth of the season, tying Rick Monday for the second most in a single season in team history.

Saturday's three-homer game is not the only time Crow-Armstrong has impressed this season. He became the first player in Cubs history to post consecutive 30 home run/30 stolen base seasons, and joined franchise legend Sammy Sosa as one of two players with two such seasons in team history. He hit for the cycle on June 15, the 13th cycle in Cubs history. Crow-Armstrong has hit a home run and stolen a base in six games this season, one short of the team record.

Crow-Armstrong has done more than carve his name into the Cubs record books this season. He became the sixth player in MLB history to hit a leadoff and a walk-off home run in the same game on Aug. 18, then became the 13th player since 1900 to hit a leadoff home run in the game following his walk-off homer. 

Those impressive performances have led to a stellar showing for Crow-Armstrong. He has posted a .282/.377/.567 batting line in his 608 plate appearances entering Sunday, hitting 36 homers and 27 doubles while stealing 32 bases. Crow-Armstrong could become the seventh player in MLB history to join the 40 home run/40 stolen base club if he can keep up the pace. If so, the National League MVP award may be heading to the north side of Chicago.
