76ers' Jaylen Brown puts NBA on notice about new killer mentality

Despite finishing sixth in NBA MVP voting, Brown has been put through the wringer in a tumultuous offseason that also saw him uprooted from the Boston Celtics after a decade.

The former Finals MVP has every right to have a chip on his shoulder heading into next season, and he made some strong comments on a recent livestream that suggest that just might be the case.

“My mentality is to kill… I feel like I want blood this year," said Brown.

It’s very likely the former champion feels slighted by all the criticism about his game and the way he carries himself. He’s shown a lot of his true personality on his livestreams as of late, and even held a farewell block party for the city of Boston on Sunday.

Most of his public actions would indicate that he’s a good person, but he doesn’t plan on bringing that same mindset to the court this season. Brown is in the middle of his prime and coming off the best season of his career, yet he’s still been dragged through the mud.

He’ll team up with a cast of stars in Philadelphia — guard Tyrese Maxey, forward LeBron James and center Joel Embiid — on a team that has a chance of winning a championship. Despite all the talent on the team, Brown could make an argument that he’s the best player on the roster at this stage of his career.

If everything goes according to plan for the 76ers, then he’ll have every chance to showcase his new mindset to the world on the biggest stages in basketball.
