The rookie who's been getting the most attention in the Las Vegas Raiders camp, of course, is quarterback Fernando Mendoza. The team selected him with the No. 1 draft pick, and there's a lot of excitement about his time with the Raiders.
But he's not the only rookie in the lineup. The Raiders have a slew of new players ready to take the field. Unfortunately for one player, his time with the Raiders is being put on hold. Head coach Klint Kubiak explained the situation in a presser on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Kubiak told reporters that Keyron Crawford has suffered an Achilles injury, according to USA Today. He'll be out for the full season. The injury happened during the team's preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Ryan McFadden of ESPN reported the news of Crawford being put on IR and missing the season on Sunday, stating that the player was "placed on the IR" and was slated to be "out for the entire season."
Crawford was expected to be a pass-rusher who could add depth to the Raiders roster. So, this is definitely a blow to the team.
It's really a bummer not only for Crawford but also for the Raiders that he won't be available this season. This team has a lot that needs fixing, and while it has a superstar in edge-rusher Maxx Crosby, it also needs strong players to back him up. Hopefully, Crawford will be back to 100 percent by this time next season.
