Cleveland Browns preseason star Luke Floriea lands NFL tryout

The Cleveland Browns had a tough decision to make with wide receiver Luke Floriea. The hometown star caught two touchdowns in the team's preseason finale and was inches away from a third.

He seemed likely to catch on as the last receiver on the roster, but was ultimately released and not even signed to the practice squad.

Those rooting for the Kent State graduate to land an NFL job will be happy about today's latest update on the receiver.

Luke Floriea set for intriguing NFL tryout

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler shared a post Thursday evening revealing Floriea will get a tryout with the Seattle Seahawks this week.

One knock against Floriea is that he stands 5-foot-8 and likely cannot play special teams. Yet that is not stopping the defending Super Bowl champions from giving him a tryout.

The punchlines toward the Browns will be ready to fly if the Seahawks sign Floriea and he has success in Seattle.

It is important to note the Seahawks and Browns are two teams on completely opposite ends of the NFL spectrum. The Seahawks are looking to go back-to-back while the Browns are simply hoping for competent quarterback play.

Getting let go by the Browns and getting signed by the Seahawks would arguably be a best-case scenario for the young receiver. One team is trending toward contention while the other is likely aiming for the No. 1 overall pick in 2027.

This is still just a tryout for now. But based on his preseason performances, Floriea may only shine even brighter with a better quarterback throwing him the ball.
