Report details investigation into Bill Belichick's North Carolina program

Once again, Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels are making the rounds for all the wrong reasons.

In a tenure that has been stained by off-field narratives, the program is now facing serious scrutiny following Michael Lombardi's resignation.

According to a WRAL report, North Carolina hired a law firm to investigate the general manager's alleged misconduct, and the findings have been tumultuous.

Apparently, the investigation has now shifted its focus toward Bill's son, Steve, the program's defensive coordinator.

"Lawyers hired to conduct the investigation are also questioning people about whether defensive coordinator Steve Belichick used drugs on the job or provided drugs to at least one player — and, separately, about whether a member of UNC’s recruiting staff had a sexual relationship with a player, people familiar with the investigation told WRAL. The lawyers also asked about possible sexual relationships between assistant coaches and recruiting staff, the people said," read the report.

Belichick's Tar Heels went 4-8 in his first year in charge of the program.

Lombardi, his lifelong confidant, claimed they intended to turn UNC into "the 33rd NFL team."

He also made the rounds for reportedly banning the New England Patriots from scouting his players, though there was never a report linking any NFL team with any of his recruits.

The Tar Heels got off to a strong start to the season by taking down TCU in Ireland, but once again, they're under the scope for stuff unrelated to whatever they do on the gridiron.

The program might now have some big regrets about hiring the legendary head coach.
