Prediction has Lane Kiffin starting LSU tenure with convincing win

College football season is finally here, and Lane Kiffin is ready to coach LSU to what he hopes will be a winning season. There's never a dull moment with Kiffin involved, but at the end of the day, it's all about winning.

The team kicks off their first game of the season on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. EDT against Clemson. The first game of the season always brings excitement and a few butterflies. But Kiffin and LSU's odds going into the game should calm those nerves down a bit, if there are any.

LSU is predicted to take down Clemson

David Kenyon of Bleacher Report has made his predictions for each of the big college football games this weekend, including the matchup between No. 11 LSU and Clemson.

He predicts a big win for LSU, which isn't really a surprise, but it's still nice to see for those rooting for Kiffin.

"Last season, LSU pulled out a relatively ugly 17-10 victory at Clemson," he recalls in the piece. "This year, there's a ton of excitement around LSU as new coach Lane Kiffin is set to unleash a transfer-heavy offense. The real difference-maker here, though, may actually be LSU's defense since Clemson's offense is breaking in a less-experienced group."

He predicts it's LSU 27, Clemson 16.

Brandon Marcello of CBS Sports does bring up an issue for LSU, though, in that many of its players are new to the university.

"Kiffin brought in an incredible haul in the portal, led by Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt, but will everything gel immediately under the bright lights in [LSU's] Death Valley? It's a legitimate question," he says. In the end, he does note that "LSU has the more talented roster."

So, this game could surprise people and go the other way, but it's still shaping up in LSU's favor.
