Oklahoma State's FBS losing streak marches on, but when will it end?

The Eric Morris era at Oklahoma State began the same way the Mike Gundy/Doug Meachem era ended.

With a loss to an FBS team.

Oklahoma State's 24-10 loss to Tulsa on Saturday not only gave the Cowboys an 0-1 start to the 2026 season, it extended a staggering losing streak against FBS opponents that now sits at 21 games.

It is probably not going to end next week, either.

So when, exactly, will it end?

Oklahoma State has lost 21 consecutive games to FBS teams

The last time Oklahoma State beat an FBS opponent was Week 3 of the 2024 season when the Cowboys, then ranked No. 13 in the country, beat Tulsa by a 45-10 margin.

Since then?

It has just been loss, after loss, after loss, after loss.

Oklahoma State finished the 2024 season with nine consecutive losses, all against FBS teams.

After opening the 2025 season with a win against FCS school Tennessee-Martin, the Cowboys then lost the remaining 11 games (all against FBS schools). 

The problem for Oklahoma State is that next week it has to play No. 2-ranked Oregon, a team that beat the Cowboys by a 69-3 margin a year ago. 

That is followed by a Week 3 game against FCS school Murray State, which should be a win. But it will not end the losing streak against FBS teams. 

After that West Virginia and UCF are the next two FBS opponents that could present a viable opportunity to win, with those games followed by a game at No. 23 Houston. 

If the losing streak is going beyond that Houston game, a home game against Colorado on Oct. 24 could be a potential spot to get a win. If it goes beyond that, or if it even reaches that point, it is going to be a major problem for a program that has to be getting closer to rock-bottom. It was not that long ago that Oklahoma State was a consistent 10-win team that was regularly in the top-25 in the nation. Now it can not even get a single win against FBS teams.  

Oklahoma State made some big investments in the transfer portal and with NIL this offseason, including the addition of quarterback Drew Mestemaker after he helped lead North Texas to a 12-win season and contention for a College Football Playoff spot. But his Cowboys debut was rocky on Saturday with a pair of interceptions.
