Cardinals pulled a petty move in response to umpire’s bizarre action

The St. Louis Cardinals found a subtle way to protest umpire Doug Eddings’ power trip.

During Friday’s Cardinals game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver, Co., Eddings momentarily stopped play to ask St. Louis pitcher Hancel Rincon, who was making his MLB debut, to straighten his hat. That irritated Cardinals manager Oli Marmol, who protested the action and got ejected for it.

On Saturday, some Cardinals players in the dugout seemingly tried to troll Eddings by changing the angle of their hats.

The way Rincon wears his hat is his business and his business only. After all, there is no clear baseball violation that he committed by wearing his hat at a certain angle.

It was also quite odd for Eddings to make such a gesture to a player who was appearing in his very first game in the big leagues. That’s not to mention the fact that other players have worn their hats in unconventional fashion without getting reprimanded.

The good news for St. Louis is that the Cards came away with a 7-6 victory in that Friday series opener — and an inspiration for a hilarious petty move.

As for Eddings, it’s safe to say he is not earning new fans in St. Louis.
