Kyle Whittingham fuming after Michigan's controversial win over Western Michigan

Usually, when a team wins a game, it's a good thing. That team is happy, and the head coach celebrates that win after the game. But the Michigan against Western Michigan game on Saturday wasn't your typical win.

The Michigan Wolverines, of course, almost lost to Western Michigan. The Wolverines pulled off a dramatic 13-12 win over Western thanks to Bryce Underwood completing a Hail Mary to JJ Buchanan. But this wasn't how head coach Kyle Whittingham wanted to see things go down. He made that clear after the game.

Kyle Whittingham wasn't happy despite Michigan's win

Speaking with reporters in a news conference after the win, he actually said he "was mad" after Underwood completed that pass for the victory. Just imagine how he would have felt if that pass hadn't been completed.

"I had a great view. Like I said, a perfect throw," the coach said, according to 247Sports.com. "JJ backed in and boxed out perfectly and went up and got it, and my reaction was just, thank goodness. But I didn't move. I was mad.

"Bottom line is we're 1-0, but the reality is we have got a lot to fix, a lot of things to address. You know, the things that we didn't do well, we didn't play the run well on defense, we didn't run the ball well on offense, we lost the turnover margin three-zip, we didn't make enough first downs, and all this is squarely on my shoulders. There's no doubt about that, and I've got to do a better job preparing this football team."

A win is a win, as they say in sports. It doesn't have to be pretty. But Whittingham isn't pumped about this one.
