College football rankings: AP Top 25 Poll after Week 1 officially released

The first week of college football has officially wrapped up, and the AP has released its highly anticipated AP Top 25 poll after Week 1.

The first week's reveal is always exciting because this is the first AP poll after the preseason. It's the poll that will really set the pace and mood for the rest of the season.

Dominating this week's poll is Ohio State. The team had a huge win over Ball State in their first game of the season, 56-3, so they have the No. 1 spot this week.

Ohio State remains No. 1 in the AP Top 25, but other teams move

As for other schools in the top five, coming in at No. 2 is Georgia, which moved up one spot to take second place. The Bulldogs kicked off the season with a 63-3 win over Tennessee State. That helped them get that little boost.

Notre Dame moved up one spot as well, from No. 4 to No. 3 this week. The Fighting Irish had a big win over Wisconsin at Lambeau Field, 41-13, helping them jet up the AP Poll. Quarterback CJ Carr threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns during the matchup.

The Texas Longhorns are No. 4, moving up one spot, thanks to quarterback Arch Manning and the crew. Manning threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns during the team's blowout win over Texas State, 59-7.

Finally, the Indiana Hoosiers rounded out the top five, moving up one spot. They had a 52-16 victory over North Texas. Quarterback Josh Hoover had a big game, with 231 yards and four touchdowns.

The space for those teams to rise in the top five was created by Oregon dropping four spots to No. 6. The Ducks barely beat Boise State, 34-27, at home and really looked like they were going to lose that game at times.

Another notable tumble is Michigan. The Wolverines barely beat Western Michigan with a crazy, and controversial, Hail Mary play. The voters clearly took notice as Michigan went from No. 16 to not even being in the Top 25.
