Jordan Love is unbothered by Micah Parsons' absence vs. Vikings

The Green Bay Packers will be without their top defensive player for the season opener.

As expected, superstar pass-rusher Micah Parsons started the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after tearing his ACL late last season.

He'll miss at least the first four games of the regular season, though he's pointed to Week 6 as a likely — yet optimistic — target date.

However, as significant as his absence might be for the first month or so, Packers star quarterback Jordan Love still believes the offense's chances outweigh that problem in the season opener against the Minnesota Vikings

Jordan Love trusts the Packers offense

“I think always the goal of the offense is to put up as many points as you can,” Love told the media. “I think that’s our goal, no matter who’s out there on defense, with Micah, without Micah. I want to go out there and be the best offense we can be; I want to put up a touchdown every time we touch the field.”

While Love acknowledged that Parsons is obviously a huge part of what they do, he's an offensive player, and as such, he likes his guys' chances of holding down the fort:

“Whatever they hit us with from a defensive perspective, just being ready and obviously having in-game adjustments,” the quarterback added.

Parsons elevated the Packers from borderline Super Bowl team to actual contender status, but they'll have no choice but to get by without him.

As for Love, head coach Matt LaFleur might be ready to give him more trust than ever before, given the uncertainty regarding the interior of their offensive line and Josh Jacobs' availability — or lack thereof.

Love is a gunslinger, and he's looking forward to letting the ball fly against one of the league's hardest-hitting defenses.

Whether that will be enough to take down Kevin O'Connell's team on the road, however, remains to be seen.
