Four must-watch college football games that could shake up Week 2

Arizona State at No. 10 Texas A&M

This one has a little mystery attached to it.

Arizona State and Texas A&M both opened against opponents they were expected to beat, and neither had to reveal much along the way. Now Arizona State heads to Kyle Field, where we'll get a much better idea of what both teams actually have.

The pressure is heavier on Texas A&M.

The Aggies are already sitting inside the top 10 and have College Football Playoff expectations. Losing a September home game to an unranked Big 12 opponent would change that pretty quickly.

Arizona State has very little to lose. That's usually when road underdogs become annoying.

No. 12 Alabama at Kentucky

Beating East Carolina 48-10 looked nice. Now Alabama gets a road game in the SEC.

That's where the season actually starts.

The Crimson Tide ran for 227 yards and five touchdowns in their opener, an encouraging sign after the running game wasn't nearly consistent enough last season. Kentucky should provide a much better measuring stick.

There's also the simple reality of playing an SEC opponent on the road. Alabama is supposed to win this game. If it does comfortably, move along.

If Kentucky is hanging around late in the third quarter, Saturday afternoon gets a lot more interesting.

No. 1 Ohio State at No. 4 Texas

Cancel whatever you had planned Saturday night.

Ohio State and Texas are meeting for the third straight season, and the first two didn't go particularly well for the Longhorns. Ohio State eliminated Texas from the College Football Playoff after the 2024 season, then beat the Longhorns 14-7 to open last year.

Now Texas gets the Buckeyes in Austin.

Arch Manning gets another chance, too. He threw for only 170 yards with one touchdown and an interception against Ohio State last season. He looked considerably different in this year's opener, throwing for 305 yards and four scores.

Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin isn't exactly easing into the season himself. He threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-3 opening win over Ball State.

Forget trying to figure out playoff scenarios in September. There's plenty of time for that headache.

This is No. 1 against No. 4, two national championship contenders and two quarterbacks with enormous expectations. Texas has also spent nearly a year waiting for another shot at the team that beat it last September.

Of all the must-watch college games this weekend, this is the one you don't miss.
