Arch Manning has an honest response about 'nightmares' before win over Ohio State

What was turning into another nightmare performance against the Ohio State Buckeyes ended up being a dream finale for Arch Manning.

The Texas Longhorns trailed by as many as 20 points in the fourth quarter. Ryan Day's team threatened to leave Austin with another huge win over Manning and company.

Then, Steve Sarkisian's troops rallied to secure a last-second 24-23 win, with Manning making play after play to set up a couple of Hollywood Smothers touchdown runs.

Following the game, the projected first-round pick was pretty candid regarding his feelings about potentially losing to Ohio State again.

“I did not want to come in here after a loss at home to Ohio State again,” Manning said (h/t On3). “I’m so glad we won...We couldn't lose to them again. I had nightmares about that game last year.”

The Longhorns made history in this one. It was the first time in the past 22 years that a top-ranked team blew a 20-point fourth-quarter lead, and it was also the biggest comeback win of Sarkisian's career.

Manning finished the game with 23-of-37 for 195 yards, one touchdown and one pick, adding eight rushes for 24 yards.

Julian Sayin, his counterpart, didn't do much to separate himself in this one, especially down the stretch, and he shouldered the blame after the loss.

“We didn't execute the way we can, the way we need to in the fourth quarter there,” Sayin said (h/t Stefan Krajisnik). “It starts with me.”
