Miami moves into top five nationally after Texas beats Ohio State

After Texas rallied to beat top-ranked Ohio State on Saturday, the Miami Hurricanes moved up to fifth in the AFCA Coaches Poll and Associated Press Top 25, released on Sunday. 

Miami entered Week 2 ranked seventh in both polls. The Hurricanes match their Week 2 ranking in 2025. Miami received 1,452 points and four first-place votes in the AP Top 25. Fourth-ranked Indiana received 1,466 points and three first-place votes in the AP Top 25 this week. Ohio State fell to sixth in the AP Top 25 this week with 1,407 points and no first-place votes.

Miami moved up two spots in both polls from last week. The Hurricanes received 1,549 points and two first-place votes in the AFCA Coaches Poll. Indiana is also fourth in the AFCA Coaches Poll with 1,611 points and 10 first-place votes. Ohio State is sixth in the AFCA Coaches Poll with 1,480 points.

Notre Dame is the highest-ranked team on the 2026 Miami schedule. The Fighting Irish are third in both polls. Notre Dame received 1,531 points and one first-place vote in the AP Top 25. The Fighting Irish received 1,639 points and two first-place votes in the AFCA Coaches Poll. Miami is at Notre Dame on Nov. 7.
