Giants' Cam Skattebo breaks out backflip after opening season with TD

New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh was probably not thrilled to see running back Cam Skattebo attempting (and botching) backflips during the offseason while he was recovering from a season-ending ankle injury.

He was probably a little more accepting of it on Sunday night when the second-year running back opened the season with a three-yard touchdown run against the Dallas Cowboys, and followed it up with his signature move.

Skattebo, a fourth-round pick out of Arizona State in 2025, was one of the few bright spots for the Giants during his rookie season, having rushed for 410 yards on 101 carries before suffering a gruesome injury in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles

Aside from the production, he also became a fan favorite for his personality and fearless playing style, as well as things like this...

There is a new energy around the Giants this season given the arrival of Harbaugh, as well as another year of experience for players like quarterback Jaxson Dart and Skattebo.

The Giants have made the playoffs just two times in the past 14 seasons, winning only one playoff game during that stretch. There is a long way to go before they get back to being a serious Super Bowl contender, but it is not hard to see the potential. If the young players take another big step forward, there might be reason for the fans to start doing backflips along with their starting running back.
