Travis Kelce has historic night in Chiefs' win over Broncos

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs played a solid game against the Denver Broncos on "Monday Night Football" and pulled off a comfortable 31-10 win.

Kelce, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and new running back Kenneth Walker III all had their moments and helped push this team over the edge to show they're a stronger unit than they were a year ago. Kelce also managed to make history in the win.

After recording 71 yards, the tight end officially moved into second place for all-time tight end receiving yards. The NFL shared the news as soon as Kelce crossed the finish line for the honor.

"Kelce caught a 59-yard pass from old friend Patrick Mahomes in the third quarter to put him past longtime Dallas Cowboys stalwart Jason Witten for second all-time," Grant Gordon of the NFL's official website notes. "Ahead of Monday's season opener, Kelce had 13,002 yards, needing 45 to surpass Witten (13,046)."

Gordon also noticed that the showing marked Kelce's "longest reception since Week 15, 2021, when he turned in a 69-yarder versus the Los Angeles Chargers."

Heading into the season, Kelce is an 11-time Pro Bowler. Last season, Kelce became the second player in the history of the NFL to notch at least 75 receptions for 10 consecutive seasons. So, the history just keeps being made. He really has nothing to prove at this point, but he came back because he wanted to win, and that's what he's doing.
