Chiefs get tough update on Mansoor Delane after his opening-drive INT

Kansas City Chiefs lost Mansoor Delane to injury on the same play that had fans excited about the standout rookie.

Delane electrified the crowd Monday when he intercepted Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix on the first drive of the game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. The 6’0″ cornerback jumped the route on a third-down pass intended for Courtland Sutton, giving the Chiefs excellent field position on their first possession.

Sutton caught up with Delane and took him down hard near the midfield logo. The 22-year-old defensive back’s upper body slammed into the grass, resulting in a shoulder injury. After medical evaluation, the Chiefs ruled Delane out for the rest of the contest.

Medical experts online suspected Delane had suffered an AC joint sprain.

The injury added a little bitterness to an otherwise sweet moment for Delane and the Chiefs faithful, especially if the rookie is forced to miss any additional time.

The Chiefs, who drafted Delane with the 6th overall pick in April, have high hopes for the LSU product.
