Mike Norvell's situation at Florida State is getting increasingly bleak

Mike Norvell seemed surprised by a question about a box truck outside of his house on Wednesday.

The Florida State Seminoles' head coach has been on the hot seat for some time now, and that seat only gets hotter as FSU has started this 2026 season 1-1 with a loss to ranked SMU.

Norvell is 39-35 overall at Florida State and was at one time considered one of the top young coaches in college football. He's now 8-18 over the past two seasons, and FSU athletic director Michael Alford was recently fired.

That's led to speculation that Norvell could be next on the chopping block, and that speculation hit a fever pitch when a box truck was seen behind the gates on Norvell's property.

The FSU head coach was asked about that on Wednesday and seemed surprised.

"Oh, that's awesome. I don't look a whole lot online," Norvell said, per Andrea Adelson of ESPN. "All of our focus is on this team; that's where I live. There can be plenty of speculation. There can be plenty of things that are out there. I get the opportunity to show up every day, bring the right attitude, bring the right mentality, bring the right work, pouring into this team, pouring into these players. I believe in that."
