Dak Prescott sends blunt message to Cowboys fans who are already doubting Dallas

Dak Prescott took a question at his Thursday media session about Dallas Cowboys fans who already see 2026 tracking the way the last two seasons went, and he declined to make a case to them.

The Cowboys are 0-1 after Sunday night's 28-20 loss at the New York Giants.

"I mean, it's a long season. I love our fans, but I don't necessarily feel like I need to speak to that fan. Sorry for them. If they're a real fan, they'll stick with it. They'll trust it. They'll believe in it. And at the end of the day, it is one game. Yeah, it sucks, it's the first game.

"Nobody's more p-ssed than myself and these guys in here. We didn't want to start 0-1. We're as excited as any fan out there about the offseason and things we've done in the training camp. So, turn that energy and come to the game this Sunday and be as loud as you can. We appreciate it." Prescott said.

Have the Cowboys actually looked different through one game?

Dallas held the ball for 23 minutes and 20 seconds at MetLife Stadium on Sunday night, on the same night Prescott completed 22 of 34 passes for 175 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, an average of 5.1 yards per attempt. His longest completion of the night was the 17-yard touchdown that cut the deficit to eight with 5:21 left.

The Giants converted nine of their 11 third downs and outgained Dallas 394-244. One New York drive covered 65 yards on 13 plays and ate more than eight minutes of the fourth quarter.

George Pickens dropped two passes and finished with three catches for 28 yards, telling reporters on Wednesday, "We can, as a team, play better."

Maybe fans should listen to Prescott. He is asking for patience on the strength of an offseason, and the two seasons behind it ended 7-10 and 7-9-1 with no playoff appearance in either. The fans he waved off watched a 244-yard night in the opener, which is the evidence they are working from.
