Rhyne Howard breaks WNBA single-season record with lone three-pointer in Dream win

Despite a less than stellar night from beyond the arc, Rhyne Howard still did enough to make WNBA history. 

Howard's lone three-pointer during the Atlanta Dream's dominating 103-59 win over the Connecticut Sun, set a new league record for the most in a single season.

And even though Howard was only 1-of-9 from long range on Thursday night, her only connection was her 129th of the year, passing New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu for the most any player has ever put up inside a season. 

Howard, 26, has now hit at least one triple in 16 straight games. Her last game without one was back on July 17. In addition to her record-breaking three, Howard came close to double-double, if not a triple-double. She scored 10 points, granted was only 3-of-14 from the field, with eight assist and six rebounds. 

Already having played in a career-high 40 games so far this season, Howard holds averages of 18.1 points, 3.8 boards and 3.7 helpers per game. She's shooting at a 40.5% clip from the field and a 36% mark from three.
