Dabo Swinney makes a telling comment on Tait Reynolds after Clemson win

Dabo Swinney is happy with what he’s seeing so far from Clemson Tigers freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds.

On Saturday, Reynolds turned heads again as he delivered in his first-ever start for Clemson, leading the Tigers to a 28-20 come-from-behind win over Bill Belichick’s North Carolina Tar Heels at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, S.C.

Following the game, Swinney heaped praise on Reynolds, saying that the quarterback has what it takes to be a serious headache for opponents.

“How about this quarterback?” Swinney said, via Griffin McVeigh of On3. “He was pretty bad in the first half and with a couple of things in the second. I mean, what a competitor. You saw a kid grow up tonight. He’s going to be a problem for a long time. And he ain’t going to do nothing but get better.”

Christopher Vizzina was Clemson’s original starter, but he went down with an elbow injury in his non-throwing arm in last week’s win over the Georgia Southern Eagles. The Tigers appear to have a solid answer to Vizzina’s absence, with Reynolds overcoming his struggles in the first half of the North Carolina game and finishing strong to lead Swinney’s squad to another win.

Clemson trailed the Tar Heels by 14 points at the half before turning it around, as Reynolds finished with 215 passing yards and a touchdown with an interception on 20/29 pass completions.

The Tigers, after stumbling right out of the gate in a 51-10 loss to the LSU Tigers, are now 2-1 (1-0 in ACC play).
