LSU QB Sam Leavitt gets clowned after throwing game-losing interception vs. Ole Miss

The memes came flying at Sam Leavitt’s expense Saturday as LSU lost to Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss.

The Tigers clawed their way out of a 24-7 halftime hole to tie the game early in the fourth quarter. The Rebels countered with a touchdown and converted a two-point conversion to take a 32-24 lead late.

With just over a minute left, Leavitt and the rest of the LSU offense had 4th-and-goal at Ole Miss’ 6-yard line. The Tigers QB had a shot at glory, but his pass intended for wide receiver Jackson Harris was deflected and picked off.

Leavitt’s critics were loud on social media after Ole Miss ran out the clock for a 32-24 win.

Leavitt went 16-of-27 for 158 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also added 63 yards and another touchdown with his legs.

But the LSU QB was thoroughly outplayed by Ole Miss counterpart Trinidad Chambliss, who had an electric first half against his former coach. The Rebels QB threw for 363 yards on 33-of-48 passing with a pair of TDs and an interception.

The Ole Miss star’s performance already had fans debating Chambliss’ chances at being the top pick in the 2027 NFL draft.
