The Green Bay Packers finally ended their losing streak, but they needed overtime to secure a win over the New York Jets.
With all due respect to the Jets, a three-point overtime comeback win against Aaron Glenn's team shouldn't feel like much of a win for a team like the Packers. With a shaky offensive line and a struggling running game, Jordan Love failed to step up and do most of the heavy lifting, completing just 16 of 29 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns.
That's why, following the game, unnamed NFL executives expressed their concerns about the Packers to Mike Sando of The Athletic.
"The Packers I just feel are broken," one exec told Sando. "There is something wrong there. I feel like when it's tight, the quarterback struggles. You just feel it. He throws off his back foot. And then of course they are missing Micah Parsons. When they get him back, that can give them some juice."
The Packers were in a tough spot against a solid defense, especially with Josh Jacobs still out and potentially facing a suspension. Even so, Matt LaFleur is supposed to be an offensive guru of sorts. With a gunslinger like Love, they should've done better in this one.
"Why isn't Green Bay scoring more points?" another exec said. "All you hear about is how good the quarterback is, how much they like him, what a dynamic play caller they have."
This was the Packers' first win since losing Parsons to a torn ACL, and they'll obviously take it. Still, things will be tougher when they go against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3, with Michael Penix Jr. likely to make his season debut.
Parsons won't be back until at least Week 6, so Love and LaFleur will have to get on the same page and get the job done while the defense is still down its featured star.
