Texas A&M Aggies get more tough news after loss to Kentucky

The Texas A&M Aggies and head coach Mike Elko are in a bit of a crash-out.

The big news was the Week 3 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, who feature first-time head coach Will Stein and a team that in no way should have come into College Station to upset the Aggies.

It was a 31-21 Kentucky win that stunned Kyle Field. The Aggies came into the contest at 2-0 and ranked No. 9 in the country. As of Monday afternoon, they're now 2-1 and have fallen all the way to No. 23 in the country.

Now, adding injury to insult, it's being reported that a major contributor, wideout Terry Bussey, will be gone for the season.

Bussey, a junior wide receiver and kick returner, was hurt on the opening kickoff in a non-contact manner, and he had to be carted off the field.

Elko confirmed that he'll be out for the year on Monday afternoon.

"We'll look forward to him recovering and being back with us next year," Elko said, per Dave Wilson of ESPN.

Texas A&M Aggies lose solid contributor in Terry Bussey

This is a tough loss for Texas A&M, without a doubt.

A former five-star recruit from Timpson, Texas, Bussey was expected to play a big role for the Longhorns this season after catching 35 passes for 411 yards and one touchdown in 2024 and 2025, combined. He has also put up three touchdowns on the ground as a runner and has been a strong punt and kick returner.

In 16 punt returns, he's notched 131 total yards (8.18 yards per return). In 30 kick returns, he's notched  681 total yards (22.7 yards per return).B

Bussey made the preseason All-SEC team as a kick returner for the Aggies. He was ranked as the No. 1 overall athlete in the recruiting class of 2024, according to the 247Sports Composite.
