Junior Caminero had a cold quote on facing either the Yankees or Red Sox in the playoffs

Junior Caminero doesn’t care about which team the Tampa Bay Rays will face in the American League Divisional Round.

After the Rays officially clinched the AL East Division title on Tuesday with a 6-1 win over the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y., Caminero was asked by Lauren Shehadi of MLB Network who he would rather see in the playoffs, the Yankees or the Boston Red Sox.

“We play whatever,” Caminero responded amid the jubilation happening in Tampa Bay’s locker room. “We want to win no matter what.”

The Rays have once again defied expectations despite a payroll that isn’t even remotely close to what their division rivals Yankees and Boston Red Sox are paying their players this season.

With the top seed in the American League locked up and assured of a long rest before its first playoff series, the Rays will wait in the American League Division Series Round for the winner of the wild-card series between the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.

But first, Caminero and company have four regular-season games left on their schedule, including Thursday’s series finale against the Yankees. Tampa Bay will enter that game with a 96-62 record, already their best since winning 99 games in 2023.
