Tom Brady names one big reason Chiefs should 'scare' NFL teams this season

The offense of the Kansas City Chiefs looked like an elite unit over the first two weeks of the season as the Chiefs notched back-to-back wins. 

Via a video shared by Fox Sports on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Friday, living legend and current Fox in-game analyst Tom Brady sent a warning to the rest of the NFL regarding what the Chiefs could accomplish through January or February 2027.

"I think this offense, being able to run the ball, becomes exponentially more explosive," Brady explained, per Douglas Fritz of ClutchPoints. "And that should scare a lot of teams in the NFL. ..."I think one thing that’s not only impressed me, but should honestly scare the rest of the NFL, is the Chiefs’ running game. That’s kind of been an afterthought, even in all of their championship seasons. It really wasn’t a running team. It was a lot of passing the football."

ESPN stats show that the Chiefs will enter the weekend leading the NFL with 457.5 yards gained per game. As of Friday, Kansas City was second in the league with an average of 186.0 rushing yards per contest. According to StatMuse, Chiefs running back and free-agent signing Kenneth Walker III ended Week 2 leading the league with 369 total yards from scrimmage for the campaign.

"You got Kenneth Walker running the way that he is," Brady continued for the clip. "They’ve got to come down and try to tackle him. As soon as they do that, that exposes a lot of one-on-one opportunities for Mahomes. And you know he’s going to find those." 

A recent report noted that people around the league think Mahomes "might not be all the way back ... but he's not far off" coming off the torn ACL and torn LCL he suffered on Dec. 14, 2025. In the Chiefs' 33-30 overtime victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 20, Mahomes completed 32-of-47 passes for 382 yards and three touchdowns. 

The offense of the Chiefs will try to stay hot during this coming Sunday's game at the 0-2 Miami Dolphins. As of Friday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook had Kansas City as a 10.5-point road favorite for that game.
