Angel Reese news announced before WNBA playoffs

Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream are headed to the playoffs with a lot of momentum on their side. They have won nine of their last 10 games and are on a five-game winning streak. The WNBA recognized the three-time All-Star’s strong run via an announcement on Friday.

Reese is coming off a shortened night on Wednesday against the New York Liberty. She finished with six points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in only 17 minutes of action. The 24-year-old exited in the second quarter after Sabrina Ionescu hit her on the face and headed straight to the locker room. She did not return but the Dream continued to dominate to secure an 83-65 victory.

The good news is the injury doesn’t appear to be serious. Atlanta hasn’t announced that Reese in danger of missing its upcoming first-round playoff series.

Angel Reese earns WNBA honor for third time this season

The WNBA announced that Reese is the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. It’s her third time to earn the honor, and the league posted it on X along with her averages.

Reese and the Dream finished the regular season with a 30-14 record. They clinched the No. 4 seed and will have homecourt advantage in the first round versus the No. 5-seeded Washington Mystics. Atlanta is in a good position to advance and avoid getting eliminated in the opening round for the second straight year.

The Dream will continue to rely heavily on the LSU product’s dominance inside the paint. Reese will play her first playoff game on Sunday, with Game 1 set for 7 p.m. ET at State Farm Arena.
