Miami makes its case as top-five team with emphatic win over Central Michigan

The No. 6 Miami Hurricanes made their case to be a top-five team with a 52-3 win over Central Michigan on Saturday. A 52-28 win by No. 21 Florida over fourth-ranked Ole Miss and a 29-23 victory for fifth-ranked Indiana over unranked Northwestern should help Miami.

Ole Miss had 1,488 points in the Associated Press Top 25 but was sixth with 1,501 points last week in the AFCA Coaches Poll. After a 32-24 win over LSU last week, Mississippi moved up four spots in the AP Top 25 and three in the AFCA Coaches Poll. 

Indiana was fifth in the AP Top 25 with 1.467 points and fourth in the AFCA Coaches Poll with 1,613 points last week. The Hoosiers dropped one spot in the AP Top 25 last week and remained the same in the AFCA Coaches Poll after a 38-0 win over Western Kentucky.

Miami received 1,445 points in the AP Top 25 as the sixth-ranked team and 1,552 points as the sixth-ranked team in the AFCA Coaches Poll. The Hurricanes dropped one spot in the AP Top 25 and remained sixth in the AFCA Coaches Poll after a 33-20 win over Wake Forest last week.
