WR Malachi Toney on pace to set multiple Miami records

Malachi Toney tied the Miami Hurricanes' career record with his seventh game with 100 receiving yards and a touchdown catch in the 52-3 win over Central Michigan on Saturday. Wesley Carroll, Michael Irvin and Xavier Restrepo also had seven games with 100 receiving yards and a TD catch in their Miami careers.

Toney is on pace to obliterate Restrepo's Miami career records of 200 receptions for 2,844 receiving yards, set from 2020 through 2024. Toney is eighth in Miami history with 143 receptions, 14th with 1,775 receiving yards and 11th with 16 receiving TDs. In 2026, Toney has 34 receptions for 564 yards and six TDs. 

Toney set Miami records with 109 receptions for 1,211 yards as a true freshman in 2025. At his current pace, Toney would break his own Miami single-season reception and receiving yards records, as well as the TD record set by Leonard Hankerson with 13 in 2010.

Jeremiah Smith of Ohio State and Toney are battling to be recognized as the best wide receiver nationally and to win the Biletnikoff Award. Smith has 33 receptions and is first nationally with 617 receiving yards and seven TDs in 2026. Smith and Toney are difference-makers on top-five teams nationally.
