For the first time since the 2023-24 season, the Cleveland Browns are above .500.
Cleveland improved to 2-1 on the season with a 21-18 win Sunday over the Carolina Panthers. Cleveland used an excellent defensive performance to secure the win, but it wasn't just the defense that stood out.
It was also a solid performance from quarterback Deshaun Watson, who, despite heavy criticism in Week 1, has turned in back-to-back solid performances in Cleveland's consecutive wins.
Watson completed just above 50% of his passes on Sunday, but he threw two touchdown passes and did not turn the ball over. In the Week 2 win, he completed 24-of-30 passes for 238 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
In the two wins, Watson has tallied 382 passing yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Despite an ugly loss in Week 1, Watson has rebounded and has proven he is still an extremely capable quarterback who can lead his team to wins.

Give Deshaun Watson credit, the whole world was crumbling around him two weeks ago. Bad Week 1. Ugly scene in Cleveland in Week 3 looming.

He's responded.
The entire offseason talks surrounding Watson and the Browns were about the decision by head coach Todd Monken to name Watson the starter over Shedeur Sanders.
Those conversations were stirred up even more after Week 1, and there was heavy speculation that a Week 2 loss would mean Sanders starting in Week 3 for Cleveland in their home opener.
Now, after two straight wins for the Browns, there should be no more questions surrounding Watson's job security. Barring an injury or a massive losing streak, Watson should be the starting quarterback each week, as he gives his team the best chance to win games.
