The New England Patriots are 1-2 heading into their Week 4 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, and that's obviously not really where they want to be at this point in the season. But this team has struggled, and quarterback Drake Maye has clocked a whopping six interceptions in three games so far.
So, Maye is one of the NFL quarterbacks under scrutiny going into Week 4, and Patriots fans and critics alike are looking to see how he does up against the Bills and quarterback Josh Allen. The Bills are 3-0 going into this game, so they're not a joke of an opponent.
Josh Fowler of ESPN is sounding the alarm on Maye. In a feature out on Wednesday, Fowler said Maye is the quarterback that concerns him the most.
When asked which NFL quarterbacks are on the "panic meter," he names a handful of them.
"Three come to mind here - Drake Maye, Cam Ward and Justin Herbert," Fowler noted in the piece. "All three garner varying degrees of panic, but I'm putting Maye on top for now. The Year 3 regression is startling. He looks shaken right now."
He adds that Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel's comment after the 35-6 loss to Jacksonville said it all: "My concern level is very high for this football team."
Fowler also points out that the player was "considered one of the cleanest quarterback prospects of the past half-decade when he entered the 2024 draft." That's the guy New England needs back.
