Fans all said the same thing about first White Sox playoff series win in 21 years

The Chicago White Sox are officially back up.

Chicago won Game 2 of their AL Wild Card series over the Houston Astros on Wednesday by a final score of 7-3. The victory gave the White Sox the series, marking the first time that they had won a playoff series since all the way back in 2005.

In response to Chicago’s triumph, everyone said the same thing over social media. Fans all gave credit to Pope Leo XIV for blessing the vibes for the White Sox.

Pope Leo, who ascended to the papacy in May of last year, is an avid sports fan. As a native of the South Side of Chicago, his love for the White Sox in particular has been well-documented. His Holiness even sent a letter to the White Sox earlier this week wishing them “abundant blessings” before their playoff series.

This turnaround for the White Sox certainly feels like nothing short of a miracle. After all, they were one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball for the previous three years running, losing over 100 games in each season and also setting an all-time record for futility with an absolutely dismal 41-121 campaign in 2024.

But now the White Sox have incredibly managed to secure their first playoff series victory ever since 2005 when they went on to win the World Series. Interestingly enough, Pope Leo himself was also notably in attendance during that year’s World Series.
