There are a lot of things the Georgia Bulldogs are doing right so far in the 2026 college football season.
First and foremost, they're 4-0 and ranked No. 4 in the nation. Wins and losses are always the most important thing, even in the 12-team College Football Playoff era.
Georgia is also leading the SEC in points per game with 54.8. In fact, the Bulldogs are leading all of college football in that category.
And yet, there are plenty of things the Bulldogs can still do better.
Heading into a Week 5 contest with the Vanderbilt Commodores, one of those things is getting after the quarterback.
Georgia has just 11 sacks on the season, which is middle of the road as far as the SEC is concerned. That's 2.75 per game. For comparison's sake, the LSU Tigers have 19 sacks so far, or 4.75 per game.
The Bulldogs notched three of those sacks in their Week 4 win over the Oklahoma Sooners, but even then, head coach Kirby Smart wasn't satisfied.
"We pressured today and didn't finish," Smart said in the postgame, per 247Sports. "We affected the quarterback, but we didn't really hit the quarterback. We affected the quarterback. We did not hit the quarterback."
Against Vanderbilt, the Bulldogs are aware that finishing and actually hitting the quarterback is going to be a big deal — and that's regardless of which quarterback plays for the Commodores.
Vandy starting quarterback Jared Curtis is questionable with an undisclosed injury.
"He's banged up. He's not been able to be full-go in practice, head coach Clark Lea said earlier this week.
If Curtis is "banged up" but still plays, the Bulldogs will want to make him regret that decision. If his backup, senior Blaze Berlowitz, plays, the Bulldogs will want to remind him why he started practicing at wide receiver.
Either way, hitting the quarterback will be a focus for the Bulldogs this week.
