The San Diego State Aztecs are preparing for their first-ever Pac-12 Conference home game, but the injury report is lengthy.
San Diego State has been dealing with a mumps outbreak. In a statement released to the school, it said the “outbreak remains within a single athletic team,” and the San Diego Union-Tribune reported it was the football team.
On Wednesday night, SDSU released its first injury report, listing 15 players as “out” or “doubtful.”

San Diego County Public Health Services have confirmed 14 cases.
Aztecs head coach Sean Lewis has not revealed which players are dealing with mumps, although ESPN reported that it was due to federal privacy laws.
According to the SDSU student health website, mumps is a “contagious, viral illness that is primarily preventable through vaccination.”
It is spread through saliva or mucus from the mouth, nose and throat.
San Diego State is part of the revamped Pac-12 Conference, which also includes football programs such as Fresno State, Colorado State, Boise State, Utah State and Texas State.
San Diego State is scheduled to take on Texas State at Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday night in the Aztecs’ first Pac-12 home game, but the sideline might look emptier than usual for Sean Lewis’ team.
