Bryce Underwood had his clock cleaned on Saturday against Minnesota.
Underwood and the Michigan Wolverines played in Week 5 against the Golden Gophers. In the first quarter at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn., the Michigan quarterback Underwood had himself a rather painful moment.
Underwood dropped back to pass and fired a ball to receiver Andrew Marsh that ultimately fell incomplete. As Underwood was getting rid of the ball though, he got absolutely rocked by Minnesota defensive end Anthony Smith.
The sophomore QB Underwood ended up violently on his backside as a result of the hit by Smith (but would eventually pop back up unscathed). Here is the video.

Underwood, 19, is a good size for a quarterback at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds. But Smith, a 22-year-old redshirt senior, is an explosive 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds, and Underwood certainly found that out the hard way during Saturday’s game.
Both Michigan and Minnesota were 3-1 heading into Week 5, but both also found themselves unranked. Underwood himself also had a difficult day at the office, throwing for just 55 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception through three quarters. That may only add to the pressure (figurative and literal) that Underwood is feeling from all angles right now.
